Features: Gariboldi (Giuseppe Gariboldi, 1833—1905) was a renowned Italian flute player and composer. He studied at the Paris Conservatory of Music in France in his early years and spent most of his life in France, dedicating himself to flute performance and teaching with a rich body of works. He authored The Art of Flute Playing, Flute Elementary Course, and a series of flute etudes and ensemble pieces. In his later years, he returned to his hometown of Italy until his death. Among the numerous flute etudes, Gariboldi's series of flute etudes are celebrated worldwide for their melodious tunes, diverse styles, lively rhythms, and delicate expressions. Especially, the rhythm exercises in various combinations of triple meters are uniquely charming and distinctly characterized. His works stand out in many aspects, such as the description of musical expression, the diversity of rhythms, and the singing quality of melodies.
The compiler has been engaged in professional flute performance and teaching for many years. Through continuous teaching practice, it has been discovered that many students struggle with phrasing and expression while playing the flute, often only focusing on note accuracy and lacking a rich musical language. Moved by the inadequacy of my students' performance in interludes, I compiled this Collection of Famous Flute Etudes from Around the World and appended fourteen renowned flute pieces. I hope it can enhance students' technical skills while enriching their musical expressive depth. May this book provide assistance in your musical studies.
