Cesarean section postpartum diet: What to eat

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Could you please advise on what is suitable to eat during postpartum recovery after a cesarean section?

Doctor's answer:

During the entire postpartum period, the mother needs to replenish various nutrients promptly, such as protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, and vitamin D, to obtain various nutrients from food. It is essential not to be picky about food, to eat less refined rice and flour, and to consume more whole grains and fresh vegetables to achieve balanced nutrition.
Currently, the common anesthesia method for cesarean sections is epidural anesthesia. At least six hours of fasting is required before surgery to prevent nausea, vomiting, and aspiration during and after the procedure. Post-cesarean section, fasting is also required for at least six hours. After six hours, a small amount of liquid food can be consumed, and normal eating can resume after bowel movement.
