Features: According to the "College English Teaching Syllabus" and the "College English Test Band 4 Syllabus" issued by the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Department of Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the Beijing College English Research Association organized experienced teachers from some universities in Beijing to compile annual College English Test Band 4 adaptive test papers since 1991, providing practice materials for Band 4 candidates to identify issues, summarize and generalize, take measures, and continuously improve. Due to the conscientious and responsible work of the test-setters, striving for excellence and implementing strict quality control, the scientificity, practicality, and targeting of the test papers reached a high level, earning praise from English teachers and Band 4 candidates. This book collects ten Band 4 mock test papers (1991–2000). The features of this book are: (1) The test papers are synchronized in format and difficulty with the exposed test papers from the Ministry of Education's testing center, making them highly comparable. (2) The solutions to the test papers are detailed, systematically summarizing and generalizing the language phenomena involved, enabling students to learn by example and apply knowledge to similar situations. (3) All test papers include listening scripts and reference answers (also: the book is accompanied by audio cassettes), making it convenient to check answers according to scoring standards. In summary, the book's emphasis on listening skill development is a prominent feature.

Teacher Xue Shulan (Tsinghua University) was responsible for the printing of the original test papers and the organization of the recording work.
