Does pregnancy preparation require taking vitamins?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I also feel extremely cold and fear the cold. Do I need to take vitamins for pre-pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, three months before preparing for pregnancy is when you should start taking folic acid and continue until three months after pregnancy, for about half a year. Vitamin E has antioxidant effects and is good for the skin, but there is no research proving it as a medication for pre-pregnancy use. For miscarriage, it is best to consider conventional surgery. Medical abortion can easily lead to incomplete miscarriage and cause heavy bleeding. Painless abortion can easily cause uterine perforation. It is best to undergo a hysteroscopic-guided Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure, as there will be no residual tissue post-surgery, thus preventing heavy bleeding. This is the safest method for miscarriage.
