Features: The focus of this special campaign is to target five types of individuals: agents and agencies for overseas casinos, gambling companies, and gambling websites within China; operators and maintainers of gambling websites; organizers of lotto, sports betting, and horse racing gambling activities; organizers of setting up casinos and gambling gatherings; and party and government leaders, civil servants, and leaders of enterprises and public institutions involved in gambling. Key areas for crackdown include regions with severe online gambling and sports betting problems, areas with serious lotto and private lottery gambling issues, border areas with overseas casinos, and regions with a high volume of gambling tips reported by the public. As of July 2005, during the six-month special campaign, public security organs cracked 163,000 gambling cases, arrested 702,000 involved individuals, confiscated gambling funds equivalent to 2.33 billion RMB, and seized 77,000 electronic gambling machines and computers used for gambling. The grand anti-gambling campaign achieved remarkable results, while a long-term anti-gambling people's war has just begun across the vast land of China!
