No period, will I get pregnant?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Is it possible to get pregnant without experiencing vaginal bleeding?

Doctor's answer:

It's not always the case. Usually, there will be contractions, with intermittent stomach pain. At first, it might just feel like menstrual cramps, not very severe and irregular, but later it becomes more regular and unbearable pain, occurring two to three times every ten minutes. When this pattern is established, it means the cervix is opening and labor is approaching. There are also cases where water breaks first, or spotting occurs (in large amounts). It could be due to incorrect positioning, insertion too deep, causing discomfort for the woman. The left leg pain might be from maintaining the same position for too long, which is bound to cause some soreness. Next time, try to adopt a position that is comfortable for both partners and avoid excessive force.
