Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I also feel extremely cold and afraid of the cold. Could you please explain what happens if lochia persists for two months?Doctor's answer:
In your case, it may be postpartum lochia profusa. Lochia profusa is often caused by a naturally weak spleen qi, or spleen qi deficiency after pregnancy, which fails to control the (Chong Mai) blood; or postpartum emptying of the uterine vessels, with invasion of cold pathogens, leading to blood not returning to its proper channels. You can use Shenghua Granules for treatment, which is quite effective. Your condition may be due to qi deficiency failing to control blood, often caused by prolonged illness, exhaustion, or spleen qi deficiency, leading to qi deficiency that cannot regulate blood flow, resulting in blood spilling outside the vessels; or chronic blood loss, causing qi to deplete along with blood, eventually leading to qi deficiency that fails to hold blood.
It is recommended to use a large dose of Huangqi (Astragalus) decoction to invigorate qi and stop bleeding.
