Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Is it true that women do not ovulate every month?Doctor's answer:
Generally speaking, each menstrual period indicates that the ovary releases a mature egg. However, in reality, some women may have menstruation but fail to ovulate, a condition known as anovulatory menstruation in medical terms. In some women, due to incomplete development of the hypothalamus or delayed maturation of the hypothalamic cycle center, the regulation among the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary axis may be imperfect; or when excessive stress or fatigue occurs; or due to chronic diseases that interfere with the normal regulation of menstruation, the phenomenon of ovary not ovulating while the uterus bleeds may appear, which is anovulatory menstruation. Additionally, anovulation is common in women during perimenopause or menopause. Due to the decline in ovarian function, follicles cannot develop maturely, leading to follicular exhaustion. At this point, the ovary no longer performs the function of ovulation.
