Is cervical erosion normal?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? Is cervical erosion normal?

Doctor's answer:

Cervical columnar epithelial metaplasia is a normal physiological phenomenon with no specific clinical manifestations. Some individuals may experience contact bleeding, but this is simply an individual variation of the cervix, similar to how some people might get a bit of bleeding in their teeth or mouth when chewing hard things. If there is an increase in leukorrhea, discoloration (yellow), and a foul odor, it indicates cervical inflammation. Cervical nabothian cysts and hypertrophy are also results of chronic cervical inflammation.
