What level of placenta can give birth?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? What level of placenta can one give birth at?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, a placenta at 2 to 3 degrees is considered mature, and above 3 degrees indicates it has aged. When the placenta reaches 2 or 3 degrees of maturity, it means it is close to the due date. The closer to full term, the more mature the placenta becomes. Under normal circumstances, the placenta reaches a maturity of 2 to 3 degrees only after the fetus is full term. If there is abdominal pain (uterine contractions) or vaginal bleeding (like menstruation), it indicates that labor is approaching.
