Features: The second edition of Poster Design has been released, and I immediately recalled the difficult situation I faced while advocating for the foundational education of art and design in China during the mid-1990s. I couldn’t help but sigh—just over a decade has passed, yet China has undergone tremendous changes. I must say a few words about this series of art and design textbooks for higher education institutions published by Shanghai People’s Fine Arts Publishing House. Since its debut in 2001, this series has made a dynamic journey over more than three years. Although the time is not long, it has developed two distinct characteristics: First, the planning is well-executed, and the compilation is orderly. The series has grown from nothing to something, persistently evolving. Today, it has expanded to 10 titles, covering all major fields of art and design, and continues to actively explore new disciplines and subjects. Second, among similar textbooks, this series has consistently maintained a rigorous and solid academic style, benefiting a vast number of students deeply. As a result, the textbooks have been continuously reprinted in increasing quantities over the past three years. The most frequently printed title has already been issued eight times, meaning that the publisher has added print runs for students every spring and autumn for three years in a row. The data clearly shows that this series has become a fixed textbook for professional learning among teachers and students at schools. In today’s highly competitive textbook publishing market, achieving such a development pattern is something we never anticipated but are delighted to see.
