How to care for and regulate during menstruation

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? How should I take care of myself and regulate my health during my period?

Doctor's answer:

During the menstrual period, pay attention to the following four points:
1. Underwear should be soft, cotton, and have good ventilation and breathability. Wash and change it frequently, and dry the washed underwear in the sun.
2. Maintain a pleasant mood and avoid mental stress and emotional fluctuations. Some individuals may experience lower abdominal bloating, back pain, breast tenderness, mild diarrhea, fatigue, drowsiness, emotional instability, irritability, or tendency to depression during menstruation, which are all normal and do not require excessive concern.
3. Pay attention to hygiene and prevent infection. Maintain cleanliness of the external genitalia. Intercourse is absolutely forbidden during menstruation. Pay attention to warmth and avoid cold exposure. Avoid overexertion. Those with heavy menstrual flow should avoid consuming brown sugar.
4. Avoid eating raw, cold, sour, spicy, or irritating foods. Drink plenty of warm water.
