Can women who are pregnant eat soursop?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Can snow lotus fruit be eaten by pregnant women?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, generally, an early pregnancy test can be done around day 35 of a missed period, or a blood HCG test can be performed 10 days after intercourse to confirm pregnancy. After becoming pregnant, it is important to rest and maintain proper nutrition, and avoid spicy and irritating foods. Regular prenatal check-ups, such as ultrasound for fetal anomaly screening and Down syndrome screening, should be conducted.
For women during pregnancy:
- Normal progesterone levels:
- Week 7–13: 32.6–139.9 nmol/L
- Week 14–37: 62.0–262.4 nmol/L
- Week 30–42: 206.7–728.2 nmol/L
These are normal values. Low progesterone levels are not ideal. They can increase the risk of miscarriage or make it harder for the fetus to survive. It is recommended that you have an ultrasound to check the growth of the fetus. Progesterone injections can be used.
