Author Bio: Ye Zi, currently known as Ye Sanbao, was born in December 1948. His ancestral home is in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, and he resides in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Born into a scholarly family, he was nurtured by the traditions of the old literati from an early age. He has a deep passion for literature, history, aesthetics, and philosophy. In addition to his studies, he has dedicated himself to the study of ancient inscriptions, calligraphy, and paintings. Currently, he serves as the chief editor of Art News and oversees the editing of the "Appreciation and Collection" column. He is an influential historian and appraiser among the younger generation in China. Over the past two decades, he has authored and published over ten academic monographs, including , The Art of Huang Binhong's Landscape Paintings, Identification of Zhang Daqian, Identification of Lu Yinshao, A Comprehensive Guide to the Appreciation and Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, General Theory of the Appraisal and Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Investment and Collection of Chinese Modern Paintings and Calligraphy, and Identification of Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy. He has attended numerous important international academic seminars and delivered papers. His new perspectives, such as "Qi Yun (spirit resonance) is the highest principle in the identification of Chinese painting" and "The history of Chinese painting development is divided into the 'Identification of Antiquities' and 'Wild Studies' schools," have garnered widespread attention from both the academic and collecting communities.
