Features: This book is divided into nine parts. Part "Economic Ethics in the Times: Issues and Norms" first discusses the challenges posed to economic ethics by changes in these general conditions, including the premises, models, perspectives, concepts, norms, and ethical considerations related to special issues tied to the times and technological conditions. If the issues discussed in this part are not particularly relevant to China's national conditions, then the second, third, and fourth parts of the book primarily focus on the general institutional background or macro-level ethical issues related to China's economic ethics problems, especially important ethical issues concerning the improvement of China's socialist market economy system reform, such as economic freedom and social justice, credit, integrity, and property rights. These mainly involve the relationship between economic system reform and political system reform, as well as issues related to common prosperity, farmers' rights, and other questions concerning the primary responsibilities and ethical decision-making of the government.
Parts five to eight of the book primarily discuss how medium-sized public enterprises are gradually becoming the main body of China's market economy. Issues at these two levels are increasingly attracting our interest and attention. Therefore, in these four parts, more Chinese and foreign authors propose and discuss these issues. In particular, due to financial scandals involving companies like Enron, corporate governance has become a major issue of concern for the international business community and the field of economic ethics. From the perspective of research trends, this issue will continue to be a key topic in the international field of economic ethics.
The final part of the book, "Economic Ethics and the Pursuit of a Harmonious Society," not only provides recent research findings on this topic but also uses the title to indicate that a harmonious society is the practical goal pursued by our economic ethics research.
