Prequel to the Base Series, Part 2 -- (. Upper and Lower)

Author: (USA) Isaac Asimov
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-01-01
Features: Traditionally, the past is history, and yesterday is history. But Isaac Asimov was different. His Foundation series wrote about "the history of the future," "the history of a distant future," and "the history of tomorrow!" Asimov, this "historian of the future," this "American Sima Qian," used an "epic" brushstroke and the grand chapters of the Foundation series to narrate the thrilling stories of the "Galactic Empire," of Foundation (often simply called "Foundation"), of the Second Foundation, and of that "Mule," offering the "history of the future" to readers in a vivid and captivating way. Asimov's science fiction always introduced groundbreaking fantastical elements, becoming a model for later science fiction. The reason a master is a master lies in their ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with a single stroke. His three great series—Robots, Empire, and Foundation—each have their unique charm, and even now that we are very familiar with his works, we still cannot help but admire his creativity at the time. Under the reign of Cleon I, the Galactic Empire struggled to maintain its unity and prosperity, but its decline continued. This was primarily due to the intertwined political and economic complexities of the empire, a problem no one at the time could solve. Cleon's second Prime Minister, Hari Seldon, developed psychohistory, the ability to predict the future, to save the empire. To this end, he established the Second Foundation at the edge of the stars, in tandem with Foundation. Hari Seldon, Dors Venabili, Wanda Seldon, and others are filled with legendary charm, and the plot developments are utterly unimaginable. However, the opposing forces are extraordinarily powerful, and it is impossible to predict who will ultimately prevail. Can they restore the Galactic Empire? What will the outcome be? It seems we can only head toward Foundation to uncover the mysteries.
