Features: This book takes the accumulation and flow of four basic economic elements as the entry point to explore the issue of industrial structure transformation in China's urban-rural dual economy. The transformation of the urban-rural dual economic structure is not merely a problem of factor allocation and spatial layout, but also involves a series of institutional changes (i.e., organizational institutions and policy variables derived from the aforementioned elements). This book treats institutional changes as an endogenous variable in the process of urban-rural dual economic transformation. As a persistent phenomenon in economic development, the urban-rural dual economic structure fluctuates with the market-oriented reform process. From a theoretical and long-term perspective, the dominant role of market mechanisms in the transformation of the urban-rural dual economic structure has been sufficiently supported by theoretical foundations and practical evidence. However, in the short term, due to differences in the initiation of market-oriented reforms and the phased characteristics of urban-rural dual economic transformation, market mechanisms may reinforce economic dualism, and their elimination requires the support of relevant organizational institutions and policy variables. Only through the combined efforts of institutional changes, market mechanisms, and government actions can the transformation of the urban-rural dual economic structure be achieved, realizing coordinated development of urban and rural economies and societies.
