Features: To better adapt to the requirements of teacher training in Chinese secondary schools, the Ministry of Education's Department of Normal Education revised the teaching plans and syllabi for advanced specialized training in higher normal education for secondary school teachers, which were originally formulated by the Ministry of Education in 1983, in 1990 and 1991. This book is compiled according to the teaching syllabus for advanced specialized training in music for secondary school teachers issued by the Ministry of Education's Department of Normal Education. It consists of 22 lectures, introducing basic music theory knowledge such as notation, rhythm and meter, intervals, chords, and tonality in a thematic manner. The content of this book is scientific, systematic, and easy to understand, using a comparative approach with both treble clef and simple notation. The answers to all exercises are provided at the end of the book, making it not only suitable for classroom teaching but also beneficial for self-study. This book can be used as a required textbook for undergraduate and associate degree students in normal universities, as well as for a wide range of beginners in music.
