Motorcycle and Moped Noise Emission Limits and Measurement Methods

Features: To implement the "Environmental Noise Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," prevent motorcycle noise pollution, promote the sustainable development and technological progress of the motorcycle manufacturing industry, this standard has been formulated. The test methods of this standard have been modified and adopted from ECER9 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Three-Wheeled Motorcycles," ECER41 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Two-Wheeled Motorcycles," ECER63 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Mopeds," and 97/24/ECC9 "Supplementary Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Motorcycles." The degree of consistency between this standard and ECER9 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Three-Wheeled Motorcycles," ECER41 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Two-Wheeled Motorcycles," ECER63 "Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Mopeds," and 97/24/ECC9 "Supplementary Provisions Concerning the Approval of Noise Emission of Motorcycles" is partially equivalent. The main differences are as follows:──The format has been uniformly arranged for two-wheeled motorcycles, two-wheeled mopeds, and three-wheeled motorcycles in accordance with Chinese conventions;──Some expressions applicable to international standards have been revised to be applicable to our national standards;──The measurement method for acceleration noise has been incorporated into "Limits and Measurement Methods for Acceleration Noise of Motorcycles and Mopeds";──Limits for stationary noise have been specified. This standard replaces the stationary noise limit values part of GB16169-1996 and the stationary noise measurement method part of GB/T4569-1996. Compared to GB16169-1996 and GB/T4569-1996, the main changes of this standard are as follows:──The stationary noise limit values for motorcycles have been classified according to new engine displacement categories;──The requirements for measurement values have changed. Appendix A of this standard is informative. The historical versions of the replaced standards released are:——GB/T4569-1996, GB16169-1996, GB4569-2000, GB16169-2000. This standard is the second revision. In accordance with relevant legal provisions, this standard is legally binding. This standard has been proposed by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the National Environmental Protection Administration. The drafting units of this standard are: National Motorcycle Quality Supervision and Testing Center, Shanghai Motorcycle Quality Supervision and Testing Institute, China, China Chaling Industrial Co., Ltd. (Group). The National Environmental Protection Administration approved this standard on April 5, 2005. This standard shall come into effect on July 1, 2005, and GB/T4569-1996, GB16169-1996, GB4569-2000, and GB16169-2000 shall be simultaneously abolished. This standard is interpreted by the National Environmental Protection Administration.
