Features: The Inner Canon is a foundational course for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) majors in higher TCM education and an advanced course following the Fundamentals of TCM. It also serves as the foundation for studying and researching other disciplines of TCM. Based on the experience of compiling national unified textbooks of The Inner Canon since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and in line with the demands of the new century for the knowledge, skills, and qualities of higher TCM talents, this textbook has made significant improvements in both its format and content. The textbook selects original texts from the 162 chapters of the Inner Canon and divides them into two parts: Part 1, which selects outstanding sections as the main content of Selected Readings from the Original Texts. Part 2, which sets up a Collected Texts section, compiling excerpts from other chapters related to the unit content to preserve the brilliant and memorable sentences of the original texts, serving as references for teaching or self-study in Part 1.
2. Reflecting inheritance and innovation. In the Introduction, additional content on the construction method of the theoretical system of The Inner Canon, its academic characteristics, and its academic value has been added, reflecting contemporary scholars' understanding and recognition of The Inner Canon, which helps beginners better grasp its spiritual essence and academic value.
3. Reflecting the characteristics of the times. Additionally, all original texts of The Inner Canon used in this book are written in simplified characters to meet the needs of modern readers. At the end of each unit, there are Unit Summaries and Discussion Questions, which help students grasp key points or organize discussions and self-study reflections.
