Features: This dictionary is a major modern comprehensive Chinese medicine lexicon in China and one of the key projects under the Medical Science Development Plan of the Ministry of Health. It was jointly compiled by the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Over 227 renowned experts from 11 TCM research and teaching institutions across the country collaborated on it over a period of 20 years, divided into three phases. The second edition revised and corrected approximately 10,000 entries, added 2,217 new entries, and deleted 41 entries, resulting in a total of 38,505 entries. Through revision, the second edition has expanded its scope of coverage, provided more accurate and well-explained definitions that are concise, clear, and easy to understand. All entries are annotated with sources, which are precise and facilitate reference. An additional Pinyin index has been added at the end of the book for reader retrieval. The second edition of this dictionary truly and comprehensively reflects the connotation of the Chinese medical system and its historical inheritance, accurately portrays the current state of TCM and integrative medicine, and effectively balances the stability of the lexicon with its modernity. The second edition is widely used as a reference tool for researchers, educators, clinicians, and readers in various fields and levels of TCM.
