Features: The intersection and integration of grid computing and e-Learning have formed a new research direction called e-LearningGrid. This book is the research outcome of a project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and is the first specialized monograph in China on the educational application research of grid computing. The book is divided into five parts, introducing the work and phased achievements of the author and his research team in this research direction from aspects such as architecture, key technologies, and demonstration applications, while also presenting the latest developments in related research at home and abroad.
Part 1 introduces grid computing and its development, attempting to outline the context, key points, and development trends of grid computing research. Part 2 discusses next-generation e-Learning support environment technology solutions from both application-driven and technology-driven perspectives, introducing the main content of e-LearningGrid research and the e-LearningGrid demonstration project—LAGrid for remote learning evaluation. Part 3 explores the architecture of e-LearningGrid and service-oriented grid middleware technology, introducing the principles, models, and implementation techniques of core grid middleware. Part 4 introduces the latest developments in CSCW research based on grid computing environments, as well as collaborative awareness, task scheduling, and resource allocation mechanisms. Part 5 discusses the issue of learning resource sharing in e-LearningGrid.
This book is suitable for teachers and graduate students in related fields such as computer science, electronics, communication, and educational technology at universities, as well as serving as a reference for science and technology workers in related fields.
