Menstrual volume is reduced in four types: blood deficiency, kidney deficiency, blood stasis, and phlegm dampness.1. Blood deficiency
- Menstrual volume is reduced or stops after a few drops, with pale color, dizziness, blurred vision, palpitations, weakness, and sallow complexion.
- Tongue: pale, pulse: thin.
2. Kidney deficiency
- Reduced menstrual volume with pale color, lower back and knee soreness, heel pain, dizziness, tinnitus, and frequent urination.
- Tongue: pale, pulse: deep, thin, and weak.
3. Blood stasis
- Reduced menstrual volume with purple color, blood clots, lower abdominal pain, and resistance to touch. Pain decreases after blood clots are expelled.
- Tongue: dark purple, pulse: rough.
4. Phlegm dampness
