6 days without a period, is it pregnancy?

Patient's question:

My wife said she hasn't had her period for 6 days!! It turns out there's no such thing, only that it can come early!!
Is she pregnant??

Doctor's answer:

Hello! If you have a history of sexual activity and your period is delayed, the first consideration should be pregnancy. If your period hasn't arrived when it should, and it has been more than 7-10 days, you should consider pregnancy. You can confirm this with a pregnancy test. If it is confirmed that you are not pregnant, it may be due to a dysfunction of the nervous and endocrine system; additionally, gynecological diseases; or poor lifestyle habits, such as excessive dieting, smoking, and alcohol consumption, abnormal emotions, high stress, or overuse of medication. These can all cause delayed menstruation. It is recommended to visit a hospital for tests of the six sex hormones and an ultrasound. Do not take medication blindly—treat the underlying cause once it is identified. Wishing you good health.
