Can I still have children with moderate cervical erosion?

Patient's question:

Six months ago, the check indicated moderate symptoms, and it was said that treatment could wait until after giving birth. However, for a long time, the discharge has been yellow with a foul odor, and the amount has been excessive. Can I still have children like this?
Also, for the past two months, neither me nor my husband have taken any precautions, but I still haven’t gotten pregnant. I’m so worried...

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Cervical erosion is a common inflammation of the female reproductive tract, classified into three degrees—mild, moderate, and severe—based on the proportion of the erosion area on the cervix. Treatment methods include non-invasive and invasive treatments. Local treatment using medication administered vaginally is a non-invasive approach, but it is ineffective for cervical erosion of moderate or greater severity. Invasive treatments involve local cervical treatment using methods such as phototherapy, cryotherapy, laser, and electrocautery. This method may cause minor damage to the cervix locally and sometimes affect its ability to dilate during childbirth, but it does not lead to infertility. Conversely, severe cervical erosion or cases combined with acute infections, if left untreated, can result in infertility. Therefore, for women who have not borne children and are suffering from cervical erosion without affecting pregnancy or acute infection, cervical laser treatment can be performed after childbirth.
