The Origin of Mensa
Mensa comes from the Latin word "mensa," meaning "table." The World High IQ Society (Mensa International), named after this word, strictly adheres to its original meaning, judging intelligence solely based on IQ, regardless of race, color, region, age, education, or social background.
The Birth of Mensa
In 1945, as World War II ended with the atomic bomb's fiery glow and figures like Roosevelt and Hitler passed away, a seemingly insignificant event occurred alongside these major happenings: Lancelot Welch, an Oxford University student (later a scientist and lawyer), met Roland Berrill, an Australian lawyer, on a train. They struck up a conversation, exchanged business cards, and met a few more times. On March 11, 1946, Welch gave Berrill a set of intelligence tests, and the results were impressive: Berrill scored highly. This marked the birth of Mensa International. Coincidentally, Lancelot shared the same name as King Arthur's Round Table knight.
Mensa Today
With over 100,000 members worldwide, Mensa International spans 100 countries and has branches in more than 40 countries across all continents except Antarctica. In addition to providing stimulating intellectual "round tables" for members, Mensa publishes challenging puzzles contributed by its members for passionate sharing with non-members. These puzzles have spread like wildfire through various channels and are often adapted by top multinational companies as selection questions. Mensa has become synonymous with "genius," "brain," and "ideas"—a famous joke in Mensa circles goes: "In a closed room with a given problem and a dozen Mensa members, at least 13 brilliant ideas will emerge!" Are you Mensa-worthy? There's only one way to join Mensa: take the Mensa-administered test or an equivalent test recognized by Mensa and achieve outstanding results. In other words, only the top 2% of the global IQ ranking are qualified to join Mensa, or to put it another way, you must be smarter than 98% of the world to enter Mensa!
Ready? Start your journey to extraordinary intelligence with "Fun with Mensa"! This is a book you can't afford to miss—those who don't read it will regret it! This isn't hyperbole. After studying the brains of both geniuses and ordinary people, scientists have submitted the following report: Despite the limitless potential of the human brain, we've only developed a tiny fraction of it—the tip of an iceberg. Even geniuses have only utilized 2% of their brain power! That's awkward! What can we do? Of course, we should do our best to develop the hidden 98% of brain power lurking in the dark. We weren't born geniuses, but at least we can get a bit closer to them—participating in authoritative Mensa assessments is an effective way.
World-renowned Mensa expert and editor of the "British Mensa Tests" series, Carter and Russell, have written nearly 100 Mensa tests, intelligence puzzles, and word games, widely celebrated around the world and shaping countless "geniuses among ordinary people." "Fun with Mensa" includes two of their masterpiece works: "EQ Test: 1000 Questions on Charm, Creativity, Learning Ability, and Thinking Ability" and "IQ Test: 400 Brainpower Assessment Questions." These two gems are combined into one, giving readers double the reading joy. This synergy actually reveals Mensa's secret: only by combining EQ and IQ can one achieve a complete Mensa assessment.
This is a fun book that avoids solemn lectures in favor of pleasant and enjoyable psychological experiences. The topics are quirky and humorous, and the problem-solving process is easy and entertaining—, it's vibrant and exciting, a must-read.
