What kind of medicine is needed for pelvic effusion

Patient's question:

I have had pelvic effusion for over a year. I am currently abroad and don't know how to treat it. If I only take medication, which ones are relatively good?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Besides normal pelvic effusion in women due to physiological characteristics, pathological pelvic effusion is mostly caused by pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or endometriosis. The causes of PID are often related to poor hygiene habits, such as sexual activity during menstruation or within one month after childbirth, or taking a bath after gynecological surgery within one month. Medical infections caused by unsterilized artificial abortion or induced abortion can also lead to pelvic effusion. For effusion caused by pelvic inflammation, posterior fornix aspiration is recommended to identify the nature of the fluid. If there are chronic infection foci, it may be inflammation of the gynecological system, such as the ovaries or fallopian tubes, or it could be caused by tuberculosis or tumors. Early treatment of PID is important, as delaying it can affect fertility.
To determine the causative agent of PID, special laboratory tests should be conducted, followed by symptomatic medication. If tuberculosis is suspected, anti-tuberculosis treatment should be administered. Drawing off effusion is a means of examination or symptomatic treatment and should not be done frequently. Simply draining the effusion not only does not treat the pelvic effusion but may also increase it.
