Can an ultrasound detect adhesion between the uterus and placenta?

Patient's question:

After pregnancy. Currently 19 weeks pregnant, what kind of help do you want: Can a prenatal ultrasound before delivery detect whether there is placenta accreta?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Any factor that causes endometrial destruction can lead to uterine cavity adhesions, commonly occurring after artificial abortion or natural abortion. Suggestions: You can undergo a uterine sound examination, where resistance is typically felt when the sound is inserted about 1-3 cm into the cervix, with around 2 cm being the most common point; alternatively, a hysteroscopy can be performed to determine if there are uterine cavity adhesions, and to identify their location, extent, severity, and the tissues involved. Ultrasound examination cannot detect uterine adhesions. It is recommended that if there are uterine cavity adhesions, surgical treatment should be considered, such as hysteroscopy.
