Features: This book is the "Educational Master's English Course" (Volume 1). The entire book consists of ten units, suitable for one semester of use. Each unit includes three texts. The first text is a intensive reading material, while the second and third texts are extensive reading materials. The three articles revolve around the same theme, totaling approximately 4,500 words. The intensive reading texts are accompanied by a glossary, providing both English and Chinese definitions. The glossary of the ten intensive reading texts contains 315 words for Level 4, 246 words for Level 6 or above, 117 phrases, and 110 proper nouns, totaling 788 words/phrases. Each intensive reading text is followed by a substantial number of exercises.
- Reading Comprehension allows students to practice after browsing the text or after the teacher's explanation, aiming to improve reading comprehension skills.
- Vocabulary Exercises are designed to help students master the usage of key vocabulary and phrases in the intensive reading texts.
- Structure Exercises help students review and consolidate important English sentence patterns in the texts, enhancing writing skills.
- Translation is divided into two forms: Chinese-to-English and English-to-Chinese. The Chinese-to-English section consists of single-sentence exercises, aimed at reviewing and consolidating key sentence patterns and collocations in the texts. The English-to-Chinese section consists of paragraphs, designed to practice translation techniques and improve reading skills.
The two extensive reading articles in each unit are extensions and expansions of the intensive reading texts. The vocabulary in these articles includes Chinese definitions. Reading comprehension questions are provided after each text. According to statistics, the total reading volume of the intensive reading texts is approximately 13,860 words, while the total reading volume of the extensive reading texts is 19,400 words.
The Workbook includes four short reading passages per unit, with a total reading volume of 16,440 words. Therefore, the total reading volume of the first volume is 49,700 words, meeting the curriculum requirements. The two extensive reading texts in each unit can be handled flexibly—either taught by the teacher in class or studied independently by students after class.
At the end, two sets of self-assessment tests for the texts are provided, for students to use as final review and exam preparation.
