The goal of treatment is to maximize long-term suppression of HBV, reduce liver cell inflammatory necrosis and fibrosis, delay and decrease the occurrence of liver decompensation, cirrhosis, HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma), and their complications, thereby improving quality of life and prolonging survival.
