Patient's question:
Doctor:Hello! This year, I've been experiencing itching on both sides of my vagina (i.e., inner thighs) and in the pubic hair area, usually occurring in the middle of the night. The sensation feels like symptoms of skin allergies. The more I scratch, the more comfortable it becomes, or it also happens when I take hot or cold showers. I've had a gynecological examination, and my vaginal discharge was normal. I've also used potassium permanganate solution (1:5000) for cleaning. I'm a woman in her 30s and very hygienic. A few days ago, I had another vaginal discharge test, and the results were: Epithelial cells: 2+10. WBC: also 2+10. No Candida or Trichomonas was observed. Is this also abnormal? I'm really troubled! I sincerely request that the doctor provide valuable advice.
Doctor's answer:
According to your description, if all the routine tests for leukorrhea are normal, it could be vulvar inflammation, vulvar squamous hyperplasia, or vulvar lichen sclerosus. If it is vulvar lichen, the surrounding skin may show changes, such as atrophy or whitening. If none of these are present, it can be ruled out, and it may be vulvar squamous hyperplasia. It is recommended to apply hydrocortisone cream, one to two times daily.
