Can Traditional Chinese Medicine treat trichomoniasis?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: I suffer from dysmenorrhea and trichomoniasis. My friends told me that dysmenorrhea is usually treated by traditional Chinese medicine. I want to go to the hospital for dysmenorrhea and check for trichomoniasis at the same time. I don't know if traditional Chinese medicine can treat trichomoniasis???????

Doctor's answer:

Trichomoniasis is caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. The trichomonads that parasitize the human body include Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomonas hominis, and Trichomonas oralis, which respectively inhabit the urogenital system, the intestines, and the oral cavity. The species relevant to skin diseases is Trichomonas vaginalis, which causes trichomoniasis. It is a parasitic disease primarily transmitted through sexual contact and is contagious. Treatment primarily involves metronidazole (Flagyl), with adults taking three doses per day and children taking a reduced dose as appropriate. The course of treatment for intestinal trichomoniasis is 3 to 5 days. For trichomoniasis of the urethra, vagina, or oral cavity, the medication is taken for 7 to 10 days. Pregnant women and lactating women should not use this medication.
For trichomoniasis of the vagina, first scrub the vaginal walls with a soapy cotton ball, then rinse the vagina with a 0.02% potassium permanganate solution or warm water. Rinse the mouth with saltwater to maintain oral hygiene, and avoid eating sweet foods before bedtime.
