What are the symptoms of mild cervical erosion?

Patient's question:

What are the symptoms of mild cervical erosion?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! The seventh edition of the undergraduate textbook of obstetrics and gynecology has removed the term "cervical erosion" and replaced it with the physiological phenomenon "cervical columnar epithelial metaplasia." Cervical erosion was a misunderstanding of the normal cervical condition based on past medical knowledge levels. Cervical erosion cannot be considered a disease; most of it is a normal physiological phenomenon, with only a small portion associated with gynecological diseases. Some people may experience contact bleeding, but this is simply an individual variation in the cervix, similar to how some people might get a little bleeding in their teeth or mouth when chewing hard things. If there is an increase in leukorrhea, discoloration (yellow), odor, the appearance of Nabothian cysts, or cervical hypertrophy, it indicates cervical inflammation.
The main symptom of anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding is completely irregular menstruation, usually without dysmenorrhea. Sometimes this condition may coexist with certain organic diseases, such as uterine fibroids.
It is recommended to further complete relevant gynecological examinations, such as routine leukorrhea tests and HPV DNA detection. If the symptoms are caused by inflammation, cancer, or other underlying causes, treatment should be targeted at the root cause.
