Features: The proposal of the history of Ci studies in the 20th century is a recombination of the development process of Ci studies within the field of history. Its significance is as follows: First, it fundamentally breaks free from the constraints of sociopolitical and historical periodization, allowing Ci studies to possess its own independent character and facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the development process of Ci studies. Second, detaching from the political struggle model of periodization is an inevitable adjustment of overly utilitarian academic concepts, which benefits the reevaluation of the value of Ci studies and the scientificization of Ci studies research. Third, presenting the development process of Ci studies in its entirety allows its original form to be described more clearly, which is conducive to clarifying understanding and resolving confusion. Another layer of meaning in the history of Ci studies in the 20th century is that it is not limited to China but is global and international. This is a special feature of the history of Ci studies in the 20th century. Before the 20th century, the history of Ci studies was in a closed state, and overseas Ci studies were not well-developed. This is certainly due to the fact that Ci is a "national essence" of China, but it does not mean that there was no Ci studies.
