Is the absence of lateral ventricle enlargement normal?

Patient's question:

Doctor, please help me take a look at this ultrasound report. A single fetal echo was detected within the uterus. The fetal head was located above the pubis, with intact cranial bone rings, a centrally positioned midline, and no dilatation of the lateral ventricles. The biparietal diameter was 8.1 cm, the spine was arranged neatly, the fetal heartbeat was regular, and the fetal heart rate was approximately 146 beats per minute. The femur length was 6.1 cm. Amniotic fluid index: 17 cm, maximum depth: 7.4 cm. The placenta was located at the fundus of the uterus, with a maturity grade of I+. Color Doppler flow showed no obvious abnormalities. Umbilical artery S/D: 2.60.
What I don’t understand is, "no dilatation of the lateral ventricles" – is this normal? Does everything look normal overall?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, according to the check results you sent, the lateral ventricles are not dilated, which indicates normality. Please increase your nutrition, get adequate rest, and continue with regular prenatal check-ups. Consume a high-protein diet and more nuts. Generally, doctors recommend that patients with prenatal check-up risk signs should maintain a balanced diet and avoid spicy, stimulating, and cold foods. Additionally, patients should create an environment that promotes emotional stability and stress relief. Wishing you a healthy delivery.
