Publish Date: 2003-12-09
Features: This series of textbooks is designed based on the real-life situations and work practices of Chinese learners of English, breaking the conventional framework of sentence pattern drills found in similar textbooks. Instead, it focuses on various aspects of social reality and practical scenarios, providing a broad coverage and rich content. This approach is more conducive to stimulating learners' enthusiasm, helping them generalize and apply knowledge effectively, and enabling them to communicate proficiently in English while mastering the language correctly. This book is the second volume, primarily aimed at intermediate learners who have mastered approximately 500-500 words and most basic grammar structures and sentence patterns. In terms of structure, like the other three volumes, each unit in this book consists of two parts: INPUT and OUTPUT.
The INPUT section includes phonetic training, knowledge background related to the unit theme, word and sentence pattern exercises, memorable sentence practice, and humorous stories. The OUTPUT section includes organized 4DIP training (Description, Dialogue, Discussion, Debate, Presentation). However, in terms of content, this book also has a different focus compared to the other three volumes. As the initial level, it places greater emphasis on simple and practical daily expressions, with themes closely related to daily life, such as shopping, cooking, describing actions, describing sounds, personal schedules, room arrangements, and making phone calls. The training methods lean more toward Description (description). This volume begins to focus more on daily social interactions and communication, such as introducing oneself, dating, offering or requesting help, exchanging news and information, and expressing various emotions and feelings. The training methods lean more toward Dialogue (dialogue). The third volume widely explores various aspects of modern life, covering topics that people commonly care about, such as the internet, job opportunities, daily studies, and family life. It has a broader scope and training methods that lean more toward Discussion and Debate (discussion and debate). The fourth volume takes a business perspective, emphasizing language expression training for various business and formal occasions, as well as discussions on topics commonly needed in the business world and workplace, including self-promotion, business transactions, negotiations, business reports, and formal social interactions. The training methods lean more toward Presentation (presentation).
