Features: As a classic television English course from the 1980s, this series has taken China by storm with its innovative functional teaching approach and rich, fresh teaching methods. The series employs a cyclical teaching method, offering extensive listening and speaking exercises with diverse topics, making it easy and humorous to effectively improve learners' oral and listening skills. Additionally, it introduces you to British society and its customs and culture through flexible and varied situational teaching. To meet the needs of English enthusiasts in China, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press has collaborated closely with the BBC, organizing a team of Chinese and foreign experts to reorganize and arrange the original material. The series has also invited renowned Chinese host Yang Lan and BBC English teaching advisor Kathy Flower to provide fresh interpretations of the teaching difficulties and key points in the program.
The series is divided into two volumes, each accompanied by 10 VCDs. The revised "Let's Learn" retains many of the strengths of the original version. First, it still consists of 60 episodes, covering 60 themes that include 10 common language functions in daily life. Every 10 lessons focus on similar language functions, allowing learners to review and learn new knowledge. Second, it preserves the original situational dramas filmed by the BBC's "Let's Learn" production team. The vivid and humorous performances fully reflect the humor of the British, combined with authentic British pronunciation, offering a true audiovisual experience. Third, it intersperses real-life dialogues and songs related to the situational language functions, helping learners expand their language knowledge. Fourth, in 40 of the episodes, we have included a documentary titled "Follow Me to Britain," introducing learners to British culture and giving them a sense of being in the UK. Fifth, in the remaining 20 episodes, we have interspersed four series of short dramas with thrilling and engaging plots.
The revised "Let's Learn" also adds some new features. The 60 episodes of the video program are hosted by renowned host Yang Lan (first 30 episodes) and BBC's Kathy Flower (last 30 episodes), with more detailed and up-to-date explanations based on the original video program to meet the needs of current learners. At the same time, we have added two student roles to the revised "Let's Learn," designing interactive exercises and speaking activities between teachers and students, thereby enhancing the interactivity and communicative nature of the program, which greatly helps learners improve their communicative skills. The revised "Let's Learn" is divided into two volumes, each accompanied by 10 VCDs, suitable for English learners at the beginner level. We hope the new "Let's Learn" will bring a fresh experience and new achievements to all English learners.
