Features: Based on the observation and analysis of a large amount of corpus, this book adopts a new perspective and analytical methods from the theory of language contact to analyze the superficial to deep-level influences and transformations in the contact between English and Chinese. This book expands the research scope of English loanwords in modern Chinese, and its content will also involve the impact of English on the semantic, morphological, and syntactic levels of Chinese vocabulary. Theoretically, this book attempts to explain the internal linguistic mechanisms and motivations behind the changes in Chinese influenced by English using the essence of modern Chinese and Western linguistic theories of lexicalization and grammaticalization. As a "catalyst," language contact induces and accelerates the evolutionary process of Chinese itself; in other words, language develops and changes under this "resonance relationship." Additionally, the book points out that translation is an important pathway causing linguistic changes in the contact between English and Chinese.
