In just a few years, it has been reprinted 28 times, with a total print run exceeding over 300,000 copies. The primary target readers of this dictionary are primary and secondary school students. To keep pace with the updates of school textbooks and help students expand their extracurricular reading volume, the publisher has decided to revise the New Compendium of Idioms Dictionary. During this revision process, the following main tasks were accomplished: (1) Some entries with overlapping content or difficult-to-understand definitions were removed, and new idioms commonly found in primary and secondary school textbooks or extracurricular reading materials, as well as elegant idioms frequently used in spoken and written language, were added, with approximately one-third of the entries being newly included; (2) Omissions and shortcomings in the first edition were corrected; (3) Some outdated example sentences were supplemented or revised; (4) Each idiom was supplemented with as many near-synonyms and antonyms as possible to further enhance the practicality of the dictionary. It can be said that the content of this dictionary is rich, and its format is unique. As conscientious lexicographers, we sincerely hope to hear the opinions of readers so that the scientific and practical nature of the dictionary can be better combined to maximize its functionality.
