Chinese-English Comparison -- Selected Stories from Liaozhai

Author: Ma Dewu

Publish Date: 2005-08-01
Features: The Liaozhai stories in this book are carefully selected parts that I am interested in. To provide the greatest satisfaction and interest for English-speaking readers, I have revised and rewritten each story. The original author of "Liaozhai," Pu Songling, died three centuries ago. Now, to the best of my ability, I am rewriting some of his works in English. Obviously, I have not obtained his consent. I only hope that in his ghostly world, he does not object too much to the work I have done in the human world. Like every male and female protagonist in his stories, he may also possess supernatural powers, and perhaps he might even decide to return to the human world to visit me. Maybe he would thank me for introducing his stories to English-speaking readers.
