Does appendicitis affect fertility?

Patient's question:

I have lower abdominal pain on both sides and went to the hospital for an ultrasound. It was fine, but the doctor couldn't find anything during the examination. However, they still said it might be appendicitis. Is it a mild inflammation? Will it affect future fertility? I'm 21, and I have light leucorrhea. What medicine should I take? I'm currently taking Prunella vulgaris, how long should I take it for?

Doctor's answer:

In the female internal reproductive organs, the fallopian tubes and ovaries are referred to as uterine appendages. Therefore, strictly speaking, adnexitis refers to the inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Common factors leading to this condition include infections caused by postpartum or post-abortion. Sometimes it is related to minor surgical procedures performed with non-sterile techniques. Occasionally, it occurs when pathogens are already residing in the cervix or vagina and take the opportunity to ascend during surgical operations. Early or frequent sexual activity, or sexual intercourse during menstruation, can all lead to infection and result in fallopian tube inflammation.
