Some articles, though covering limited related content, still contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between these two literary masters. In 1919, the May Fourth Movement propelled Bing Xin onto the literary scene. Ba Jin first became acquainted with her through reading her novels and poems. Having lost his mother at a young age and being somewhat solitary in nature, Ba Jin found warmth and comfort in Bing Xin's elegant words, experiencing the love and genuine human emotions she expressed. Later, after several twists and turns, he too chose the path of literature. In the early 1930s, they met through professional connections, and soon after, these sincere writers became close friends. In the early 1940s, Bing Xin even entrusted Ba Jin with editing her collection of works with great confidence. Subsequently, even while Bing Xin was in Japan, the two maintained frequent contact. The letters and articles between Bing Xin and Ba Jin included in this book, unless otherwise noted, were provided by their families and the Modern Chinese Literature Museum. Some articles, though covering limited related content, were included in their entirety or excerpted in this book as they help provide a comprehensive understanding of the interactions between these two literary masters.
