Some of its papers have been translated and introduced to foreign countries by Social Sciences in China. Historical Research, founded in 1954, is one of the earliest philosophy and social science journals established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the past half-century, Historical Research has published approximately 4,000 articles, representing and reflecting the achievements of several generations of historians in the new China. Its authors range from the renowned giants of history like Guo Moruo, who gained fame in the mid-20th century, to the emerging scholars who have only begun to shine in the new century, embodying the highest level and evolutionary trajectory of Chinese historical studies over the past fifty years. Therefore, in terms of the development and evolution of academic history, the fifty years of Historical Research can also be seen as a microcosm of the development of historical studies in the new China. To this end, we have compiled this series of books to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Historical Research.
