Which tests can determine if you are infertile

Patient's question:

I have a normal monthly menstrual cycle. I started wanting to have a child in May, and now it's December, but I haven't gotten pregnant yet. This month, I want to go to the hospital to check if there are any issues with me. Today, my period has ended. Please help me understand: What tests should I undergo? And when should I do these tests?

Doctor's answer:

Hello:
The examination and diagnosis of infertile couples should first consider the infertile couple as a whole. The examination should begin with an understanding of the medical history.
The medical history should include:
(1) Chief complaints
Infertility duration, menstrual conditions, symptoms such as obesity and galactorrhea.
(2) Current medical history
Menstrual abnormalities and treatment history, abdominal pain, sexual history, previous infertility examinations and results.
(3) Menstrual history
Menarche, cycle, duration of menstruation, presence of dysmenorrhea and its severity, dates of the last three menstrual periods.
(4) Marital and reproductive history
Marriage age, history of contraception (including methods and duration), history of induced abortion (including surgery date, gestational age at the time of surgery, and method), history of remarriage, etc. Past reproductive history, including history of dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage.
(5) Past medical history
Endocrine diseases, metabolic diseases, psychiatric conditions and medication history, hypertension and digestive system diseases and medication history, history of inflammatory infections and tuberculosis, history of exposure to X-rays and harmful substances, surgical history, etc.
After understanding the medical history, examinations can be conducted to diagnose and formulate a treatment plan.
General examination:
Growth and development, height and arm span, weight, thyroid, heart, abdominal examination, with special attention to the development of secondary sexual characteristics and galactorrhea.
Gynecological examination:
Development of the external genitalia, distribution of pubic hair, clitoral size, vaginal color, characteristics of leukorrhea, cervical inflammation, position, size, and mobility of the uterus, adhesions
