Does the cyst in the attachment need surgery?

Patient's question:

After medication abortion, a 3.02.7cm liquid mass was found in the right adnexal area, with clear boundaries, a complete and smooth capsule, and regular morphology.
Is this adnexal cyst serious? Can it be treated? Does it require surgery? Will it affect future pregnancy? I’m very scared. Please, doctor, please explain it to me in detail. Thank you very much.

Doctor's answer:

Hello:
The only treatment for benign ovarian tumors is surgical removal. For cysts with a diameter of less than 5 to 6 cm, observation for 3 to 6 months is recommended. If the cyst continues to grow, or if the tumor has a diameter of less than 5 cm but is solid, surgical removal should be performed. For children and young, childless patients, the approach often involves unilateral oophorectomy or unilateral adnexectomy. If both ovaries are affected by benign tumors, the doctor may consider ovarian cystectomy to preserve as much ovarian tissue as possible, thereby maintaining menstrual and fertility functions. Laparoscopic surgery involves small abdominal incisions and a faster recovery.
