Features: The Chu Ci is an important collection of ancient Chinese poetry. It derives its name from a new poetic form called Ci that emerged in the southern Chu region during the Warring States period. This Chu Ci, through the genius of the great poet Qu Yuan, was brought to prominence and ultimately became a representative of a generation's poetic achievement, shining as a glorious of ancient Chinese literature. After Qu Yuan, figures like Song Yu and other Han Dynasty writers continued to compose Ci. Later, the works of Qu Yuan, Song Yu, and other Han Dynasty pieces were compiled into this collection, The Chu Ci. This book is based on Wang Yi's annotated edition, incorporating the research findings of past and present scholars, as well as the author's own learning and reflections, to annotate The Chu Ci. In the annotation process, the author has strived to follow the best opinions of scholars through the ages. The annotations are concise and to the point, with little analysis of the ideological content and artistic features of the works. The base text used in this book is Hong Xingzu's Supplementary Annotations to the Chu Ci from the Jigu Ge edition, with reference to other annotated editions of The Chu Ci from ancient and modern times. The original text and annotations primarily use simplified Chinese characters, but some complex or rare characters or radicals, which are not available in common computer fonts, are retained in their traditional forms from a larger font library. For difficult-to-read characters, Pinyin is provided in parentheses after the character.
