MATLAB - Applications in Dynamic Economics

Author: Wang Yi
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-02-01
Features: MATLAB has become the preferred computer mathematics language for teaching and research in natural and social sciences. This book introduces the application of MATLAB 7.0 in the dynamic analysis of economic systems, combining the fundamental content of dynamic economics. It covers the important foundations of dynamic economics and provides examples of applying MATLAB to dynamic economic analysis. This book can serve as a textbook or reference for undergraduate and graduate courses on "Dynamic Economics," as well as a reference for researchers. The book is based on the lecture notes prepared by the author for graduate and doctoral students in the School of Economics at Nankai University, where he teaches "Dynamic Economics." The book is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 provides a brief introduction to MATLAB, Chapter 2 elaborates on the basic MATLAB knowledge related to dynamic economics and offers numerous application examples. Chapters 3 to 5 introduce the theoretical foundations of dynamic economics—differential equations, difference equations, and modern control theory—along with their methods, and demonstrate the application of MATLAB in dynamic economics through many examples. Chapters 6 and 7, respectively, introduce the application of MATLAB in the dynamic analysis of microeconomics and macroeconomics. The book strives to closely integrate theoretical derivations with MATLAB applications. In some examples, theoretical derivations are presented first, followed by the results obtained using MATLAB. This approach not only enhances learning efficiency but also enables readers to quickly grasp the theoretical and methodological foundations of dynamic economic analysis, as well as MATLAB application techniques.
