Patient's question:
UnmarriedDetailed medical condition and consultation purpose: Hello, I have had irregular menstruation since my first period at 14. In the first two years, it was every two to three months, usually lasting 5 to 6 days with normal flow. Later, I went to the hospital and took some traditional Chinese herbal medicines. For about half a year, my period became relatively normal. However, whenever I take exams, work hard, or travel to places outside my province (even within the city), it becomes irregular again. I have tried traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and even Anli products, but they only work for a short time. No matter what, my period always delays. I have undergone various tests, and they all say there is nothing wrong with me. I even had an endocrine test (the report shows it is normal), but I don’t understand why. I really don’t know what to do.
Doctor's answer:
Hello, this is a common physiological phenomenon and generally does not require any treatment. Some young women, in the first one or two years after their first menstrual period, may experience irregular menstruation—either coming earlier or later than expected, or even stopping for several months. This is due to insufficient kidney qi. These women, as long as they do not have obvious systemic symptoms, will naturally recover to normal as their bodies gradually mature. There are also some women around menopause who often experience menstrual irregularities, with unstable cycles, periods, flow volume, and quality. As long as these irregularities do not pose a threat to their health or daily life, they are generally not considered pathological.
