Liang Shuming has always been regarded as a philosopher, but in reality, his intellect was not sharp enough to qualify as one. Liang Shuming was merely an educator, a passionate advocate for national affairs, and a great intellectual with integrity. Throughout his long life, his experiences and insights were the best living textbook of personal anecdotes, worthy of special attention. – Li Ao
This book is a collection of Liang Shuming’s writings on his past. It records his academic pursuits, involvement in rural construction, and efforts to address national issues during various periods, including the Xinhai Revolution, the May Fourth Movement, the Northern Expedition, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
