Features: To promote Yunnan studies and showcase the achievements of Yunnan's poetic scene, the author selected and annotated the simple and accessible Zhu Zhi Ci poems from the collection, which depict local customs and record the events of Yunnan's regions. These poems were then compiled into a book titled Zhu Zhi Ci Poems of Ethnic Groups in Qing Dynasty Yunnan: Annotations. Regarding Zhu Zhi Ci, Zhu Ziqing, in Chinese Ballads, cites Ci Lu saying: "The sound of Zhu Zhi Ci originated from the works of Tang Dynasty people in Ba and Shu, all describing the scenery of Shu. Later, people emulated this style in various places, forming a genre that celebrates local customs." The Zhu Zhi Ci poems collected in this book are indeed works of this genre, aiming to compile these scattered popular poems into a collection, ensuring they are preserved and sparking readers' interest.
The ancients said: "Poetry can inspire, observe, unite, and express grievances." Reading poetry can cultivate one's heart, temper one's nature, and elevate one's cultivation. If the publication of Zhu Zhi Ci Poems of Ethnic Groups in Qing Dynasty Yunnan can inspire more young friends to read and appreciate poetry, and to love the beautiful and prosperous red soil plateau even more; while also helping outsiders better understand Yunnan, recognizing the long-standing heritage of ancient Yunnan culture and its close ties with the Central Plains culture, which are deeply intertwined and inheritively vibrant and colorful—leading them to immerse themselves in Yunnan—then it would be a great joy for the author to have compiled these ancient Yunnan ethnic poems.
